7. Divine Assignments
Divine Assignments
Each of us will fulfill many divine assignments over the course of our life. We might not even know we are doing it at the time!
An important point to remember is that God created us with desires, aptitudes and skills that work together to accomplish His purposes in our life. These are often the means He uses to guide us.
Timothy was a young disciple of the apostle Paul. While he was determined to follow Christ and fulfill his heavenly assignments, he experienced a great deal of fear. He struggled with feelings of personal weakness and doubt that caused him to hold back from serving God fully.
Paul wrote him two letters to encourage his heart and strengthen his faith. Paul was concerned for his young follower and did what he could to help Timothy develop confidence and overcome his fears.
Toward the end of the book of Hebrews, we learn something new about Timothy. He finally overcame his anxieties to the point where he was willing to be imprisoned for his faith in Christ. At some point he refused to hold back anymore. His new found courage landed him in prison.
Timothy’s life is an inspiration for those of us who might be hesitant in stepping out to fulfill God’s assignments.
What do you think God’s assignment is for you right now? He will give you the courage to do it.
