Did you know that the first of the boomer generation is turning 70 this year?
As you recall, we exploded onto the scene in 1946 and swelled to 76 million by 1964. I can remember a popular phrase at the time was to “trust no one over the age of 30.” We’ve come way past that milestone although our memories take us back easily.
Boomers have achieved some major accomplishments during these decades, but are also showing signs of wear and tear on the journey. Many hard realities crowd in unexpectedly. Divorce rates for couples over 50 have doubled in the last 20 years where researchers are calling it “Gray Divorce.” You can add in financial and retirement issues, health problems, aging parent difficulties, adult children struggles and regrets which can cause many to derail into negative ways of coping.
At the same time, these years are also ones of our greatest influence and impact.
This blog has the following four goals for those who are interested in this midlife boomer community:
- To live an inspired “second half.”
- To see the mountains of midlife moved with God’s help.
- To leave a multi-generational legacy.
- To finish well for the Lord.
We’re going to cover a lot of ground with a weekly blog and other content that is made available. It will have a faith-based perspective with reliance on God and drawing upon the wisdom of the Scriptures.
For those over 50, these are our years of greatest influence. We may need a new vision for how that is possible. Hopefully, this blog will provide some hopeful encouragement to you.
