Make a Splash

Do you tend to play it safe and avoid risk? I know I do. It's something I'm trying to change. I'm not talking about common sense things like not wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle or doing a cannonball off the roof of your house into a pool. I referring to matters of faith...deeply trusting that God means well...that He has the best intentions toward me...that He will show up...that He is powerful to help me move the mountains that block my path. Two verses related to this idea would be: Psalm 32:8...

"The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." (NLT)

And Isaiah 42:16...

"I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know I will guide them..."

Guiding...leading...advising...watching over...along the very best path...that is what God promises to do for us. Being blind and lost out on the trail are no problems for the God of heaven. These words are action oriented and can't have their full effect if we play it safe by pumping the brake if the speed accelerates. We don't see the big picture...we can't imagine the adventure that is waiting for us...if we will only take the first few steps forward. It may not appear to be the "best" path when we first start out, but give it time. This is where our faith and deep trust comes in. I'd like to overcome my fear of the water, take the canoe off the dock and start exploring the lake. What is holding you back?
